More of My Favorite Things

Quinoa- This yummy grain is my new favorite side dish. The Mister enjoys it much more than couscous. This is OK because I'm trying to reduce my gluten intake. You never know, it just might help with "things". Here's my favorite recipe (so far) for quinoa:
In a sauce pan:
1/2 c. onion chopped
1/2- 3/4 c. carrot chopped

Saute in some olive oil until beginning to soften.

Add:
1/2 c. dried cranberries
2 C. water
1 C. quinoa (rinsed in sieve)
2 t. +/- chicken bouillon
1 bay leaf
Stir together, reduce heat to simmer. Cover, simmer 20-ish minutes until done, removing bay leaf before serving.

Yum! This is a combo recipe from the back of the bag of organic quinoa I bought at Cost.co (see pic above). One recipe said to add a cinnamon stick, which I did once. But Bay Leaf and Cinnamon didn't flip my switches. So I leave the cinnamon out now. You can try it and see if you like it. What the heck, right? I've also forgotten the bay leaf and it was good too, different than with the leaf but good as well.
Quinoa is rich in amino acids and tastes delicious!!!

Next favorite thing: (who am I Opra.h?)

The Spray N Wash stain stick. I've had this darn thing for years. No, really, years. My bff recommended it to me and I've really only started using it. I LOVE it. It works great. I keep it in my closet where the laundry baskets are so I can use it on my clothes. I always have drips and stains, don't even ask me why....I miss my mouth all the time. So I keep this handy and rub some on my stain and throw it into the bins. This way if the Mister does the laundry, I don't have to nag him about making sure to pre-treat stains. I've already done it. Win-Win, yes? Yes. I get the laundry done, the stains are gone and the Mister can help with no nagging. Win-Win. It lasts forever. Also I found some blood stains on the sheets my recent house guest slept in. Nothing major, looked like shaving nicks that got on the pillow case. It was dry. So, I brought out my trusty stain stick, rubbed it on and left it on the floor in a pile waiting for it's turn in the washer. Probably only sat an hour or so but with no other "manipulating" the stain was gone. Gone. GONE I tell you!
I love it. Have I said that yet? LOVE it. Along with my quinoa. Not together of course. Love them both. Yummy. In different ways....but yummy. Delightful.
I hope you try them both.
Tonight I made chicken corn chowder. It's fall here now. Finally. Nothing better than warm soup. Soup is another one of my favorite things.
